Sumner Sonny Saeks of New Growth AdvisorsThe Tri-State Association for Corporate Renewal (TACR), the premier association of the region’s top corporate renewal professionals, has elected Sumner (Sonny) Saeks as its President for the 2017-2019 term.  Saeks has served on the board since 2010 as Vice President, Membership Chair and Program Chair.

“With world events effecting our economy on a regular basis, and the many dramatic changes that have come with the rapid growth in technology and innovation, more and more businesses need experienced, capable professionals who can help them do more than just manage the challenges they face,” Saeks explains.  “These professionals must give them, and help them use, the tools they need to thrive and succeed in a changing world. That’s no small task, but one we as corporate renewal professionals take very seriously — now more than ever before,” he adds.

About Sumner Saeks

Saeks is the CEO of New Growth Advisors, Inc. a firm which specializes in helping owners and managers of troubled and under-performing companies revitalize their businesses and return them to profitability.  With an extensive background in banking, corporate management and corporate renewal, he has provided interim management services to companies ranging in size from $10 to $250 million, and consulted with companies with more than $1 billion in annual revenues.  He has also served as the Chief Restructuring Officer and investment banker in Chapter 11 bankruptcies and as a court appointed receiver in numerous matters.

In addition, Saeks has the distinction of being the only Certified Turnaround Professional in Southern Ohio, a special endorsement awarded by the Turnaround Management Association demonstrating commitment and competency in all financial, managerial and legal areas required to effectively lead corporate renewal assignments.

Saeks is a member of the Tri-State Association for Corporate Renewal, the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.  He has presented to groups including Bar Associations in Cincinnati, Columbus and Indianapolis, as well as to the Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar and TACR on various topics related to corporate renewal.  Sonny has served on several non-profit boards and is currently a member of Cincinnati Public Radio’s Finance Committee and volunteers weekly for the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Saeks holds an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago – Booth School of Business.

TACR was formed in 1998, starting with 35 members, including accountants, attorneys and bankers, and now boasts a membership more than 100 professionals representing every aspect of the corporate renewal profession.

The incoming TACR Vice President is Casey Cantrell-Swartz, senior counsel at Taft’s Business Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Creditor Rights practice group.  The Past President is J. Michael Debbeler, an attorney at Graydon with a specialty of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights for lenders.
